Tags are extremely important to the photoshare program, Flickr. Without tags, pictures would be unorganized into random categories. Sometimes, when searching people have to keep going into more specific subcategories in order to narrow down the hits and find what they are looking for. Tags use everyday words that people can remember. The more people a Flickr user wants to view his or her pictures, the more usual of a tag word they should use. Words such as party, family, and nature are probably tagged often and people who want their pictures seen will use these tags. Despite complaints from some saying that Flickr is a bad program, I believe that it would overall benefit the company. Nowadays, picture sharing is faster and done online. I, for one am still saving all my pictures onto the hardrive on my computer which takes up an enormous amount of memory space. The community, including the library could use Flickr to show pictures of upcoming events. I am a member of the yearbook staff. Flickr would be a wonderful tool for students at school to submit pictures for us to use on pages. Flickr connects people because as the saying goes "pictures are worth a thousand words". The impact of a picture is something that people tend to remember.
